John Coppage's Toast at Jeff & Chrissy's
Wedding
Marriage can be difficult
at times but all difficulties can be overcome with love, laughter and an
occasional prayer. If Chrissy and Jeff remember this I think that they will find
that the happy days far outnumber the bad. In fact they will find that there is
nothing on earth like having one special person who trusts you completely and
thinks you are wonderful. You will note I didn't say perfect, I said wonderful.
You have only to look around you today to see broken promises, broken hearts.
Marriage is about trust and love and faithfulness. It's not easy to live up to
the wedding vows but there is nothing more wonderful than having someone in your
life who loves you exclusively. It is what I want for my daughter.
Jeff has unquestionably excellent taste in both brides and fathers-in-law. The
credit for this must obviously go to his parents Jack & Ann and it follows that
we have welcomed into our hearts and our home for all the years to come.
Jeff, I would like to ask you to be very careful of my treasure because she is
certainly that. Look after her, as you would want her to look after you. Share
your thoughts and dreams because communication is the basis of a good marriage.
Today then I wish you both all the love in the world and a future filled with
joy and happiness.
This wedding would not have taken place at all unless Jeff's father had acted as
Cupid to a couple who had gone their separate ways. Today, sadly, he is with us
only in spirit but I am quite sure he is smiling as he sees the result of his
handiwork, his son marrying my beautiful daughter. Jack old friend, we miss you
but you are very much in our thoughts on this wonderful family occasion.
